DSA is a non-profit organisation with extremely limited funding; therefore the Butterfly Program has been designed to secure sponsor support to permit the implementation and development of DSA’s programs and portfolios. Click here for more information on ‘Sponsorship Opportunties’ page. 2. State Networking and Development The State Networking and Development (SNAD) Program targets the participation and development aspects of DSA. SNAD seeks to network with other key organisations in the same State and develop our State branches to make them better able to increase participation into existing structures. SNAD is providing focus and direction to the States to ensure they become more active for their existing and new members. 3. Building Bridges The Building Bridges Program is connecting National Deaf Sporting Organisations with their mainstream counterparts; thereby providing opportunities to deaf and hard of hearing athletes that have never existed before. 4. Targeted Club The Targeted Club Program is designed to create 'deaf friendly' sporting clubs to enable better access by deaf and hard of hearing people to the existing sporting structure in Australia. SNAD, Building Bridges and the Targeted Club Programs interlink to provide deaf and hard of hearing people with access to sport never experienced before. 5. Deaf SIS/SAS (State Institute of Sport/State Academy of Sport) The Deaf SIS/SAS Program provides athletes with the best ever opportunity to benefit from elite sport services provided by the SIS/SAS system, including science, medicine and career/education development. This program will work along side the HPAC (High Performance Advisory Committee) and the Building Bridges Program to ensure elite deaf and hard of hearing athletes will be the best they ever have been. 6. Australian Deaflympic Team Representing your country is the ultimate sporting achievement. Deaf and hard of hearing athletes have this opportunity every 4 years at the Deaflympic Games. The last Games were held in Melbourne in January 2005 and the Australian Deaflympic Team participated in 14 sports. All of the programs listed here are having a significant impact on the coordination and preparation of the Team. The next Games will be in Taipei in 2009. |
