Ceremonies

The formal Opening Ceremony on 30 December 1996 will be staged at Parliament House and the Closing Ceremony will be held at the National Convention Centre on 10 January 1997. It is here where trophies will be presented to winners. The Australian Deaf Sports Federation will present a number of major awards as follows :

• "Sportsman of the Year"
• Flag International's "Sportswoman of the Year"
• Concord Sport Insurance's "Coach of the Year"
• Ansett Australia's "Team of the Year"
• Albion Hat and Cap Co Pty. Ltd.'s "Sportsperson of the Games"
• Team of the Games
• ADSF Cup to the State winning most team championships

Canberra's Games Budget is conservatively based. Receipts are solely from registrations of the participants. It discloses that to 'to break-even' is attainable.
