TENNIS

 

1st Round 

 

John LUI (Aust) defeated Antonio BODEAN (Arg) : 6-0, 6-0. 

 

Glen FLINDELL, Jamie ZAFIR, Joshua SEALY all byes into 2nd Round

 

2nd Round

 

T. MATSUSHITA (JPN) defeated Jamie ZAFIR (Aust) : 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 - 2 and a half hours marathon especially in the heat and humidty of Taipei

 

R. KAHISHITA (JPN) defeated Joshua SEALY (Aust) : 6-0, 6-0

 

 

CYCLING - 1000m Sprint Event

 

Each rider had to qualify for top 16 by sprinting the last 200 metres. Jarrod DENMAN qualified in 4th place out of 43 riders. The top 16 face off against each other and was up against the 13th placed cyclist from Russia. Unfortunately, Jarrod was beaten on the line in a desperate lunge for the line!

 

The venue was first class, and very similar to the Olympic event standard with TV coverage

 

Reece Emerson VAN BEEK was rested today and he will defend his favourite event on Tuesday with the 35km Individual Time Trial. Jarrod will also race in this event.

Athletics : Melinda Vernon in 10,000m final

 

Basketball : Pool Match : Womens Basketball Team against Hong Kong

 

Swimming : Heats : 400m Freestyle Women - Houghton, 100m Fly Men - Morgan, 100m Fly - Men, 100m Breaststroke - Glover and Mentasana
