Superstar Aleshia worth her weight in gold

Jason Akermanis - AFL Brisbane Loins and Aleshia Yet-Foy |
WE'VE decided to get on the Aleshia Yet-Foy bandwagon.
Aleshia is a superstar swimmer in her own right, with medals in a variety of precious metals, yet for some reason she is totally sponsor-less.
We don't know why either, especially given her performance at the Australian Deaf Games in April. She was named swimmer of the meet and overall sportperson of the games, thanks to her haul of 11 gold medals.
The Queensland Deaf Society, a big help to Aleshia, did its bit this week by getting people to make a donation at the launch of From Mission to Profession 1902-2003, a book celebrating the society's centenary. (Here she is at the launch with Jason Akermanis, another Deaf Society fan.)
The plan is for Aleshia to get to the next Deaflympics in Melbourne in 2005 and win a heap of medals. She came home from the last games, Rome 2001, with four - two gold, a silver and a bronze.
So by the time you read this, fingers crossed, a big firm of cereal makers or something may have signed a fat cheque made out to A. Yet-Foy.
Go Aleshia.
